Keep the edge safe in the drawer
A good knife goes dull faster in a drawer than on a cutting board. The blade knocks against cutlery and other knives, and the fine edge chips a little at a time. And when you rummage through the drawer, it is easy to touch the blade by accident.
The guard covers the blade right up to the handle. The walls are rigid ABS with a velvety lining inside, so the edge does not rub against anything, whether you slide the knife in or pull it out.
In short
- Rigid matte ABS with a printed DACOBI logo
- Velvety lining inside, so it will not scratch the blade
- Very thin, only slightly thicker than the blade, with rounded edges, so it takes up no room in the drawer
- Red mouth: the blade goes in here, and the handle stops right at its edge

Frequently asked questions
What does the 10-year warranty cover?
The 10-year warranty covers any defect arising from correct use of DACOBI knives or any manufacturing defects. All other products carry a 2-year warranty.
How do I care for DACOBI knives?
Depending on the steel used, DACOBI knives need different care. You'll find all the information you need to maintain your knife properly on each product page and inside your order.
Do DACOBI knives rust?
High-carbon steel blades can develop a patina if not cared for properly. A patina is a natural protective layer on carbon steel that shields the blade from further oxidation and gives it a hardened finish. It forms as the surface oxidises, and the process speeds up when the knife meets various acids. You can recognise a patina by its characteristic colours: first golden yellow, then deep blue, then violet, and finally grey that darkens over time. If you notice red rust spots, remove them.

How do I choose the right size?
Check the list of DACOBI knives on this page. If your knife is from another brand, measure the blade from tip to handle and at its widest point. H17 takes a blade up to 25.7 cm long and 4.2 cm wide.
Does the knife stay in place?
Yes. The velvety lining holds the blade, so it will not slide out on its own, but it comes out easily when you pull the handle.
How do I clean it?
With a damp cloth. Not dishwasher safe, and only put the knife in once it is washed and dry.
